Im Heung-soon: A Visual Poet of Modern Korea. Born in 1969 in Seoul, South Korea, Im Heung-soon began his directorial career in 2005, showcasing his art through documentaries and experimental films. His most recognized works include "Jeju Prayer" and "Factory Complex," the latter of which awarded him the Silver Lion at the 56th Venice Biennale, making him the first Korean to receive the honor. Heung-soon's work often gives voice to the marginalised, using a poignant visual language to explore social issues and the human condition. As a compassionate observer of society's underbelly, Heung-soon's films are a testament to his deep empathy and relentless pursuit of truth.
